What is Fire Corps?  Fire Corps is the name of national program to encourage community members to support their local fire company with non-operational assistance.  At Stony Point, Fire Corps participants join our organization as Support Members.  You can download our support member application by clicking here.

Support Members are critical to the long-term sucess of a fire company.  If you don't want to answer calls, there are lots of ways you can help.  Here is a list of some of the tasks support members can do.

Shop - we have a never ending need of everything from motor oil to office supplies...and of course food.  Having members who are willing to run shopping errands is a tremendous help.

Community Outreach - there is always a need to make sure the vicitims of a fire are taken care of after the last fire truck leaves.  These members can coordinate with the Red Cross, Salvation Army and other relief organizations to help folks through a very difficult time.

Fund raising - while county funding takes care of many of our operational bills, it is not nearly enough to take care of all our needs.  The fact is that we need money for equipment, training and facilities.  The only way this money comes in is through our fund-raising efforts.

Legal Consultation - We are a non-profit business - but just like any business, we have occasional legal needs.

Accountant - From time to time we need the services of a CPA.

Book Keeper / Treasurer -  This is a time consuming post, but it is critical to the smooth funcitioning of any business.

Public Relations - Keeping our message clear and focused is important.  Making sure that our press releases , fund raising and recruitment efforts are all coordinated is essential to effectively communicate our needs and value to the community.

Building Maintenance - Our facility needs the occasional work of plumbers, electricians and other trades.  If you can volunteer your time to help us with these occasional tasks,  it would make a huge difference.
